A Word From NMB Founder, Norm Berketa As 2009 drew to a close, I was fortunate enough to be working at a BigTime murder mystery in Toronto... a New Year's gala that rocked the house and kick-started 2010 off with a bang. I was also fortunate enough to bring my fiancee along for the show and party afterward. We rang the new year in together, and it was a great time all around. Yes indeed... we're looking forward to 2010! Honestly, it just HAS to be better than 2009!!! I don't think I'm alone is saying that 2009 was one of the worst years in the 2000's so far. With the economy collapsing, businesses folding and people generally afraid of losing everything, 2009 left us thinking that things couldn't get any worse. Let's hope that's true. As an actor living in Ottawa, it was one of the leanest years in my 13-year career. As a business owner, I felt the impact of tight purse-strings. As a father, I felt unsure of my children's future. I'm sure that everyone has felt the impact of 2009, directly or indirectly. Perhaps your industry was untouched, or perhaps your product or service is needed regardless of the economy. If that's the case, congratulations and I wish you continued success. For everyone else, please join me in hoping that 2010 is the year we start recovering. More than that, let's hope that we go beyond recovering. Here's to doing what you love, and making a good living at it! |
